I don't know when the brewery in Preston closed down, but however long ago it was, it's still something of a disappointment to find that its brewery tap is such a run-of-the-mill pub. To be fair, I caught them at a quiet time, mid-afternoon after the busy Christmas and New Year period, so there was a bit of cleaning and rearranging going on. The solitary real ale, Harveys Sussex Best, was in good nick though, and after reading Steve C's review below, I suppose I should be grateful not to have found the place heaving with a crowd of rowdy locals. Can't help feeling a little bit let down, still.

The Preston Brewery Tap was very busy with a rowdy local crowd when I visited around 20:00 on Saturday evening a couple of weeks ago. The interior is split into three sections with an area to the left of the bar where there is a pool table and behind this is another area that houses two dartboards. There was no darts being played during my visit as there were some sofas on the oche. The bar area was heaving and there was a gentleman in his fifties setting up his disco equipment on the rear wall. There are two plasma screens that were turned off, but I’d be surprised if this pub didn’t have Sky as the locals seemed like a football crowd and there are numerous Seagulls flags around the pub. The bar is stocked with standard draught and two hand pumps were unused leaving the ubiquitous Harvey’s Best as the sole ale option. The only food that I saw advertised were the Sunday Roasts that come in at £7.

The service was friendly, but I felt a bit like Phillips screwdriver in a flat head world. This pub is obviously popular with the local’s, but as I live miles away there is no reason I would find myself in here again.
