About
Column258 return to Grow, Hackney after their first triumphant visit in November 2017. This 6-piece experimental music project that combines spoken word with improvised alt-punk grunge jazz. They blend both analogue and digital sounds with improvised instruments, found objects and samples; from horns to mini-moogs, guitars to electric pine cones.
They have variously been described as sounding like The Doors meets Nick Cavemeets Soft Machine, meets Gong—but ultimately their sound is truly their own, with a post-modernist feel and apocalyptic energy, soaring and carving its way into a hinterland of soundscapes ...
Whilst it may seem grandiose to lay claim to being label-free or unclassifiable, in the case of C258 it is actually true. This is music as a force for change, seeking escape from the tyranny of conformity and predictability.

As it's community night at Grow, there is 10% off all orders from the Slow Fire London kitchen and 10% off the bar for students.
About Grow, Hackney
We are an independently run bar, kitchen and creative space and operates as an experiment in ethical business, which includes working with local artists, musicians on collaborative projects to host free events where everyone is welcome. We pay London Living Wage and partner with community projects to share and nurture local talent.
