Title: Sheffield: alternative to West Street
Creator: Will Larter

Description:
The West Street area of Sheffield is crammed with bars, nightclubs and cocktail lounges for the benefit of those who like to parade around town in their underwear getting paralytic. This crawl is an alternative for those who prefer a civilised drink in real pubs without bouncers on the doors.

The Museum (1)
Plenty of real ales to choose from and the food is OK if you want to line your stomach before setting out.
Dog & Partridge (2)
Five minutes from The Museum. Not as lively as it used to be as the previous landlady has moved along the street to The Grapes, taking a lot of the customers with her. Still an interesting multi-roomed pub with Tetleys bitter on hand pump.
The Grapes (3)
Two minutes along the road from the Dog & Partridge. Excellent multi-roomed pub with interesting features. Kennedy memorabilia have recently transformed the back room. Three real ales available.
Trippets (4)
Just across the road from the Grapes, a former wine bar now serving a variety of local ales.
The Red Deer (5)
About 10 minutes' walk from Trippets in a quiet back street. Serving a range of real ales in a convivial atmosphere.
Bath Hotel (6)
Across Glossop Road and down the side of the Swim Inn (Wetherspoons). Great pub with friendly landlord and locals. Four or five real ales and many foreign lagers.
University Arms (7)
About five minutes from The Bath Hotel, just around the corner from the University tram stop. Beer range has changed recently and there are usually five real ales from mostly local breweries available.
