Title: Stockbridge in the Test Valley
Creator: Steve of N21

Description:
The picturesque Hampshire town of Stockbridge lies midway between Andover and Romsey in the stunning Test Valley.
The lovely chalk streams of the upper River Test, famed for its excellent fly-fishing, flow through and around the town and they cross the High Street at several points where you can be lucky enough to see decent sized Trout moving in and out of the reeds.
The wide sweep of Stockbridge High Street reflects its former role as a through-route for drovers bringing their sheep and cattle from Wales and as such had many old coaching Inns. But now the street is home to tea rooms, pubs and restaurants and specialist shops.
However, you can smell the wealth in Stockbridge and money flows down the high street faster than the aforementioned Trout. One outcome is that the coaching Inns are now upmarket pub restaurants, but in this way this small town still manages to sustain four (and until very recently five) decent places to have a beer.

White Hart Inn (1)
Fullers owned Coaching inn at the East end of the High Street
Grosvenor Hotel (2)
A Georgian Hotel managed by GK. Three GK ales usually available
The Three Cups Inn (3)
Former 15th Century coaching Inn which is now a Free House usually with Southern brewery beers
Greyhound Hotel (4)
Another former 15th century colour-washed coaching inn which stands on the main thoroughfare through Stockbridge, and has recently opened again after undergoing a major re-decoration. Three Hampshire brewed ales were on when we visited.
