The Etsome Arms, Somerton

A new micropub opened in early 2019, the premises was previously a licensed restaurant. The landlord and landlady describe themselves as ‘accidental landlords’, having no previous experience of the trade, but their enthusiasm and is clear to see and has made the business work. The single bar is formed from previous kitchen and dining room, not huge but comfortable. The ales are on stillage, gravity fed, behind the bar, and the ciders – 4 boxed, all local – sit underneath. The ales on today, again local, were from Quantock, Yeovil and Fine Tuned. All were in perfect condition. An excellent addition to Somerton’s pub scene, it complements well the other pubs and eateries in the town and is somewhere to which I shall surely return.
