Swan & Angel (JD Wetherspoon), St. Ives

Elongated 'spoons, and thus offering a much larger capacity than the narrow frontage suggests. All fairly routine inside, and just a cramped 'L-shaped patio out back. Six real ales - thankfully including Straw Dog and Sirius Dog Star (£1.99) from Wolf Brewery - and a cider from the two banks of five handpumps.

A newish 'Spoons' in a modernised building, so in good condition throughout with tasteful, if unexceptional, décor and furnishings. The one large room extends past the side bar to a glazed area with a small patio beyond. The beer range included examples from as far afield as the Isle of Wight and Newcastle but nothing more local except Adnams. Marginally better than average.
