Dexter & Jones, Knutsford

Dexter & Jones is a large bottle shop and bar located in two knocked through retail units that are joined by a mini ramp between. Seating sits on tile effect lino in the left where shelves full of cans and bottles of craft beer run around the walls. In the right some well-worn laminate supports more seating that runs alongside shelving full of gins and wines up the right-hand wall. The bar counter at the rear supports ten craft keg fonts that line the stainless steel back bar. There’s also a large gin list, D&J specialise in gin with four of their products being available. The friendly barman informed me that they did have a collaboration with a brewery to create their own real ale, which was very popular but now long gone. I found the atmosphere to be welcoming and the Loud Shirt Brewing’s Hazed & Confused was pretty good. They’re located up the road from me in Brighton so I must arrange a visit.

This was a bit of a wild card that I'd chosen to finish the night in and the 10% stout I chose certainly finished me off, in advance of a late curry. If you like craft beer, this is certainly the best venue in Knutsford. Whilst I normally prefer real ale and traditional pubs, this bottle shop/bar combo was my favourite pub of the day. It was busy with all tables taken. We took the last one. The bar can be found at the rear left. Fridges and shelves of beers can be found all around. The craft beer choice was Deya Steady Rolling Man, Mobberley Brew House Incognito, Verdant 300 Laps of Your Garden & Even Sharks Need Water, Left-Handed Giant Dream House, Ayinger Helles, Omnipollo vs Buxton Raspberry Ripple, Rivington In The Mouth of Madness, Staggeringly Good Bloo Goo Roo Wrecker & Unbarred Mexican Hot Chocolate. My wife's eyes lit up with the gin selection. An enjoyable end to an evening's stroll of this pleasant town.
