Curious seafront building that appears to have been given a porticoed split-level front extension at some stage. The main entrance is now in the lower part, meaning that there are five steps up to bar area. There is then a second flight of steps up to the balcony room which has a fine view across the splendid Grade I listed pier. Semi-traditional furniture and decor throughout. Also offers accommodation. As a Greene King house, the beers on handpump were: IPA, Old Hoppy Hen, Abbot and Belhaven Grand Slam (£3.80)plus Old Rosie cider.
