The Royal Oak Hotel, Eccles, Salford

From the CAMRA National Inventory bulletin Jan 18 - "The application to convert this fine Edwardian pub to residential use (reported in our November bulletin) has, unsurprisingly, been approved. Nobody wanted to run it as a pub (in quite an awkward location) and, sad though this outcome is, the intention to keep much of the impressive bar fittings is something to be welcomed"

A very good Holts pub. It has about 5 rooms so its a bit like the Crystal Maze. That said all the rooms are traditional in style. I liked this pub and though there was only the usual Holts beer that are to be found on this Patricroft to Eccles crawl its a proper pub.

The Royal Oak is an old looking corner pub that was situated next to the completly different looking Golden Lion. Once inside the pub had a few different rooms and we had a drink in the bar which was a nice room to have a drink in. The pub is a Joseph Holt tied house and there were two real ales on the bar, we had a drink of Holts bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Holts mild. We quite enjoyed our time in this pub. Pub visited 21/2/1987
