The Victoria, Brampton, Chesterfield

A back street local with excellent stained glass windows which declare it to have been a Wards pub. Now with four real ales on hand pump, including two from local Brampton brewery, plus Black Sheep Bitter and GK Abbot Ale. The sound from the TV was channelled through some rather large state of the art loudspeakers, the only refuge from which was in the room housing the pool table, though here the furniture consisted of undersized chairs that didn't encourage a longer stay. As part of the Brampton Mile, this provides the link between the pubs on Old Road and those on the main A619 Chatsworth Road, but please note that opening time is 3pm through the week. This part of the Brampton Mile has two pubs that would be destination pubs in their own right, so the Victoria suffers a little by comparison. If you are not irritated by the TV blaring, you might want to stay longer than I did.
