The Botanist, Chester

Surprisingly, we quite liked our visit here. I have visited three other Botanist chain pubs around the country and could take them or leave them. Maybe I caught this one on the right day. The layout here was good and access to the bar and plenty of table seating along the side wall proved to be a winner, also their choice of ales were excellent on this visit. There was a choice of four ales, dispensed from the back bar, we went for the Purple Moose Glaslyn and Beartown Bearly Literate. The best feature here was the bespoke chandelier over the bar made up from various glasses all illuminated.

Just down the alley from Duttons this place is like a victorian garden centre in decor , the outside tables are behind bars giving the impression the people sitting there were in a zoo . Never had a drink here , 7.30 on a saturday night and it was four deep at the bar and the noise from the music and general chatter was deafening so we moved on .
