Formerly the Rose & Crown, this pub was re-opened in 2016 and features beers from Hop Jacker microbrewery, based at the Dronfield Arms a few miles north of here. At the time of my visit there were only five hand pumps, one of which was being used for cider, but the reduction from the regular six may have been due to the football season having ended. The pub has been brought nicely up to date with bare floorboards, dark grey wood panelling and lighter grey banquettes. There were three Hop Jacker beers on offer, with a guest from Shiny. I had The Grifter, a very pleasant 4.6% stout. I imagine it would be a lot busier here when there's a football match on at the stadium just across the road. I hope to be back next season to find out.
