The Spotted Cow, Belper

Good to see the revival of a pub that had been closed for some time. It's looking very smart, with a multi-roomed appearance that owes much to modern partitions and the imaginative use of wood both old and new. There's a solid fuel stove, tiled floors and traditional Britannia tables with chairs, benches and stools. The beers, on six hand pumps, are a mix of three from the Marstons stable and three others from localish breweries (at the time of my visit Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham were represented - see photos). I would have liked this pub better without the subdued background music, but the beer was in good condition. Date of visit: 29th November 2017
