Mercure Hotel Bloomsbury, Bloomsbury, WC1

This is place is the bar of the Waverley House Hotel and it encourages non-residents to use the facilities. It is basically what you would expect from a hotel bar with stripped pine throughout and a slightly clinical feel which was added to with the corporate attitude of the barman. Fosters, Kronenburg, Heineken, Amstel, Strongbow and Guinness were the drink options with unsurprisingly no ale of any description being available. Sky Sports is advertised outside, but oddly the couple of plasma screens were both off at 17:00 on a Saturday afternoon when the results programme was in full flow. There was a bit of background music playing and the other customers seemed relaxed enough, but I wouldn’t plan to go here again.
