The Egerton Arms, Salford

Large opened up one roomer that obviously used to be more. It's effectively a horseshoe shape with some comfy chairs & sofas on the right hand side. It's a Holts pub, so you know roughly what you're going to get. It's aimed at the lower end of the market and the prices are dirt cheap for the area. 3 cask ales available on my visit. Holts Bitter, Mild & IPA. The bitter was a decent pint. It's OK to call in for one, but I prefer the Salford Arms & The Kings Arms for the beer selection.

Solid, unremarkable Holt's pub with lots of punters enjoying the cheap grog. An old school boozer just over the border in Salford but can be part of a Manchester crawl quite easily along with the Mark Addy. Copious portions of food served at lunchtime. One of the quickest pool tables I've ever played on.

The Egerton Arms is a proper old looking pub that is tucked away close to Salford central station. This pub looked like a joseph Holt tied house from the outside and there were Holts signs outside the pub but i dont think it was a Holts tied house when i visited it. Once inside there were a few different rooms and i had a drink in the bar which was a decent enough room,there were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Joseph Holt mild and this was a very nice drink the other beers were Holts bitter and Marstons bitter. I was happy enough having a drink in here. Pub visited 11/2/1995
