Agricultural Hotel, Penrith

My old Cumbria beer guide shows this as a Marston's rather than Jenning's pub. It's the bar and eating area of an old Hotel so there is something of an emphasis on food. It's a split level open plan room with the dining area up a few steps to the left as you enter. The lower area has a bench along the wall, some square tables and the servery at the rear. There are six hand pumps that had Jenning's Cumberland, Crag Rat & Sneck Lifter, Brakspear's Bitter, Banks's Sunbeam and Hobgoblin Gold. I went for the Cumberland (£3.00) which was first class. I thought I wasn't going to like this one but it turned out to be a lot better than expected.

Probably the nicest pub in Penrith and the better of the two by the station. Real ales available.
