The Fox & Hounds, Lyndhurst

Previous review still describes it nicely. Competent food-led pub with reasonable beer range but not exceptional.

Large pub conveniently situated in the middle of the High Street. It's a pleasant enough place with a carpeted bar and a low beamed ceiling, a separate restaurant area and a small courtyard. It was very busy on a recent Monday night, although that seemed mostly due to the quiz night that was on. There looked to be an extensive pub grub menu at fairly reasonable prices, and a specials board as well. Somehow in spite of all this it lacked a little bit of character. It perhaps gives the impression of being part of a corporate chain, although I'm not sure who actually owns it. Beers on offer were Ringwood Best and Forty-niner, Hop Back Summer Lightning and Doom Bar. The solitary cider was Thatcher's Gold.
