The Swan Hotel, Staines Upon Thames

Had a good roast dinner here.The bar has 3 areas and just the usual Fullers beers.You can sit outside viewing the river but not an option on a cold wet day.

"The Swan Hotel" - technically this pub is in Egham, but most people refer to it as being in Staines (right next to Staines bridge, anyway). I love this pub! The location is fantastic. There aren't many pubs right on the river (Thames) in Staines, so they really have the monopoly there in the sunny weather. Excellent. The pub is actually split into 3 distinct parts, the hotel (upstairs), the restaurant (separate area to the left when you come in the main street entrance), and the bar area. The bar is an unusual 'walk-around' bar, and there may be a log fire going (on cold days). They do have a small TV screen in the bar area for sports, but do not be alarmed, they only have the sound on for the rugby (...or possibly the tennis, when Andy Murray is winning...!) they may show some football games, but with no sound (...to keep the hooligans away...!) An interesting pub. Plenty of tables outside on the raised terrace, over-looking the river, for those pleasant sunny days (...and for those patrons who like tobacco)! 7/10 :o) TJ
