Editors Draught, Leeds

Staying up the road in a Premier Inn the Editor’s Draft was the first pub I came across that was showing Friday night football. The bar counter runs up the right-hand wall facing some high tables and at the rear some open plan seating is overlooked by the televisions. The football was muted in favour of mainly 90s back music. In the front left is a raised area with booths, I didn’t venture upstairs. There are six craft keg taps on the back bar, but only five actually work. Premium keg was also available alongside Beavertown’s Neck Oil. The four hand pumps were drawing TT Landlord, Acorn Brewery’s Blonde (past its best), Great Newsome’s Sleck Dust and a very nice Milestone’s Honey Porter. I’d pop back in if passing.

Peculiar place with a student burger bar sort of feel, but somehow it works and is not a bad place for a drink, at least if not too busy. Ales on were Sleepy Badger and Blonde Bear from Little Critters, 3 Swords from Kirkstall and Dom bar, plus various craft on keg.

Three pulls of decent beers plus Doombar, one is usually a dark, and Camra discount is offered. There are 6 keg taps on the barback with craft keg plus a selection of the nationals on two horseshoes on the counter. It has a distressed interior with mixed tile and grey woodwork plus pallet wood stuff. It provides the ubiqutous music and machines people need.

Refurbished pub, apparently named after the original Central station (not to be confused with Leeds City station, now often called 'Central''). Dark-wood interior, with various seating areas in a generally 'L'-shaped layout. Four handpumps on the bar counter: Black Sheep bitter, two from Ilkley Brewery - Lady Jane and Joshua Jane - and Saltaire Sovereign Harvest (£3.80). Surprisingly quiet on a Friday night, so I was left wondering exactly who the target market was.
