The Game Cock Inn, Lancaster

Great welcome from the French owner Eric who keeps a lovely pub with great beer from Thwaites. I had the original which really hit the spot after a 6 mile hike. The food is similarly good. Fresh local produce is used & the choice from the standard menu is excellent, I had the gammon with fried egg & it was nicely cooked & tasty, large portion too. Others dining with our group had the steak pie which was superb. The specials board featured a wide selection & one of our group had the rabbit with mash which he said was very tender. Prices are about £8 - £10 & are good value. Wainwrights is also on draught although none of us tried it. Overall a very good pub well worth a visit if you are nearby.
