Aire Bar, Leeds

Housed in three barrel vault brick archs in part of a riverside warehouse, furnished with trendy sofas but with a pool table at one end. Two counters with three handpulls on each serving the same small Brewers products, from Copper Dragon, Stotfold and Imperial today. It has views over the gentrified river and canal, Get Carter glasses and hipster staff.

Large cellar bar with three areas. The first one you see after going down the stairs is more of a tap room with a pool table and a quiz machine. The second area is more of a lounge and the third more of a dining area. There's also a large waterside terrace running the full length of the pub. The bar is split in two by a large supporting column and there are 3 handpumps on each section. The beer range has changed rather a lot since the last 2 reviews. On our visit the pumps were doubled up with Stod Fold Gold, Ilkley Mary Jane and a Partners ale whose name escapes me. The Stod Fold was a good pint. The food is cheap and cheerful and as we were peckish we ordered fries with pulled pork to share which was served quickly and was just what we needed. It was a bit of a bargain at £5.25 as well. I've been meaning to get round to visiting this bar for ages and was surprised to find that they're currently celebrating their 10th anniversary. Oh well, I got here in the end and we'll no doubt call in again.

As mentioned below, this is a pretty bog-standard city centre bar enlivened by its riverside terrace overlooking the Aire. Black Sheep and Landlord are available alongside standard lagers, and there is a pool table. Food seemed reasonably priced and it seems to attract a fairly young crowd. Leeds city centre has a fairly good range of real ale pubs so this is not one to dash to in a hurry in that regard.
