Hort's Townhouse, Bristol

This wasn't a scheduled stop off being a Young's pub in Bristol and myself visiting from Young's dominated SW London for a few days, however a serious downpour made a duck inside a need's must, into a deceptively large pub which runs back quite some way. The beer selection actually wasn't too bad, Youngs Bitter, London Gold and Courage Directors being supplemented by Bath Ales Gem and St Austell Tribute. The bar is along a side wall in the middle front area, a series of side rooms resemble living rooms with household furniture, sofas, chairs and fireplaces with bookcases either side. There is mixed seating of all possible styles, wood flooring with occasional rugs and an interesting selection of framed photographs including local scenes such as Bedminster's colourful terraces and that one of George Best and two snogging coppers from a Belfast mural. The very far rear area contains two pool tables, a bar football table, dartboard and a food servery. Upstairs beyond the toilet facilities is a function room. There is covered outdoor seating to the far side rear. Sky Sports shown, food served, burgers and pizzas a speciality but regular meals and sandwiches served also.
