The Royal Oak, Tolworth, Surbiton

Only Courage Best was on when I visited on Friday afternoon, with a London Pride clip reversed. There was no sign of any food or menus. This looks a distinctly average pub. The pool table is still on the left as you enter, with mainly normal tables and chairs in the drinking area wrapped around the L-shaped bar counter. The half-height matchboard panelling on the walls has been painted that ubiquitous grey-green colour, with the front of the bar counter painted a contrasting crimson. This pub does the job, and although I’m glad it’s here as it’s the only pub in the immediate area, it’s not really somewhere to which I would look forward to visiting again.
