The Vale, Glasgow

Unfortunately, The Vale closed on Saturday 30 April. The premises are to be converted, temporarily, into a Scotrail ticket office for Glasgow Queen Street station while the main station building is being refurbished and extended. I understand that the lease to Scotrail is for three years, after which they are supposed to restore it to its original condition. Whether it will re-open as a pub after that, I don't know. I didn't manage to get a pint on the closing night as the pub was extremely busy and the limited draught beer supplies which were left were reserved for "regulars". Although the "rough and ready" descriptions of the previous reviews have some validity, it's a pity to lose another of the more down to earth pubs in Glasgow city centre.
