The Hunters Rest, Bristol

Nicely described by Blackthorn, below, this pub was a bit out of the way but worth finding for its food, which was rather good and not too expensive. What let it down slightly was the beer quality on this occasion, and the attitude of the barman who was too busy even to be civil, but being busy aside, he was unengaging and resentful. Ales on were Butcombe Original and Otter Amber, plus a guest; the latter was Twisted Oak Old Barn, and was well past its best. I shall make the effort to come back, as it’s quite a pleasant place to be, but I would hope the beer is on better form next time.

Went here on Saturday night for a get-together and meal. Went via the lane from Chelwood Bridge, and after all the heavy rain we'd had, the water was a bit deep in places. Otter Ale was great until it ran out (the place was very busy) so went on the Butcombe Bitter, which was excellent! Certainly worth a visit.
