The Hen & Chicken, Southville, Bristol

The Hen & Chicken is a decent sized corner pub. Once inside there is a single L shaped room which is bare boarded,there is a tall bench seat to the front which is pretty uncomfortable to sit at and a very long table and long wood bench to the front left,there is a small raised area to the rear left. There was a decent choice of real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Arbour Blue Sky Drinking which went down well,the other beers were Purity UBU,Butcombe Best Bitter and Bristol Beer factory Independance. Background music was playing and food being served. A trendy sort of pub,but still decent enough for a few drinks. Please note the the BT Masts on top of the pub,Jon put them up. Another gentrified Bedminster outlet; suits, students and trendies are the main customers. Fairly large inside with a modern design, wood flooring, brass rails and big plate windows. Three ales on during my visit – Otter Ale, Bath Ale and Sharps Doom Bar. Quality was fair though prices weren’t cheap. Yeah, it’s not too bad in here, worth popping in if passing. I'd probably use it if I was local.
