The Grapes Tavern, Clifton Village, Bristol

This has recently been done up and now looks something like a cross between a bar and an art gallery. Definitely not your traditional pub look. It's got a rather bohemian atmosphere with wooden flooring, red painted walls, lots of wooden benches and a large mural on one wall, plus an interesting skeleton hanging from the ceiling. There was a plasma on one wall showing an rather odd black and white film with a giant turtle. Much of the art is for sale, but with some of the paintings priced at £2,000 I don't imagine they sell too many of them, even in Clifton. It's not exactly a spur of the moment purchase you could buy with the change from your round. That said though, the staff seemed pleasant enough, and it looks as though they put on a good choice of live music. The only beers were Wadworth's, with their Bishop's Tipple, 6X and Henry's IPA. The cider was Stowford Press.
