ReviewNow owned by Punch Taverns, This used to be a great olde worlde village pub many years ago which the exterior still alludes to. Unfortunately the interior was unnecessarily “renovated” about 4 years ago, needless to say the owners have made a complete dog’s dinner of it! Where there used to be nice authentic dark timber beams and bar counter with cream walls and ceiling there is now a flat pack pine wood bar with burgundy walls, the beams are still there but they have been painted mustard! God only knows what they were thinking when they decided what to do with the interior of this pub.
The main entrance is on the left of the building. The layout of the interior consists of two rooms, a bar with a large flat screen TV and dart board on the left of the building and a slightly larger lounge area on the right, this area has a large ceiling mounted pull down projector screen for sporting events and also a pool table. Both rooms have a fire place each with interesting cast iron stoves which I believe are original and again indicate the possible age of the building to be at least 200 years old.
Regular ales are Tetley’s Cask Bitter and one guest from the Punch Taverns nationwide portfolio.
The current state of the interior of this pub is a crime and an absolute tragedy! But if I must find a positive then it’s a British pub that’s still open and it does sell real ale, surprisingly it seems to be doing relatively well as I think it has some dedicated long term regulars. So it’s ok for a quick pint if you’re in the area, especially as Tetley’s Cask is very rare in these parts and it has been decent on my visits, in the past I would have made an effort to visit this pub but sadly I wouldn’t go out of my way anymore.

Soup Dragonmore
ReviewSoulless wasteland of a four tap keg pub. I remembered the pool table and Sky TV, but lost my notes. I wont go back, so left this pretty useless comment as a warning
