The Pyle Cock, Wolverhampton

A super looking Banks's cottage-type pub, in white render, with central door and etched windows and patio area. The interior has three rooms. The entrance passage way has a door to the left, which takes you to the bar room, where the main part of the serving bar faces you. The decor is cream and wood panel, which looks lived in, without being tired. There is a TV, which had a general TV programme on (about the Romans, so bonus point there for educational value) and the walls are adorned with old adverts, mirrors and prints, with a few trophies. The room to the right is a more tidy little lounge, in cream and wood ceiling and walls, red seats,again with mirrors, some police cartoons and a few ld saucy seaside postcards on the wall - there is also a nice tiled fireplace. The passage then continues to a back room, again in cream and green walls, with wood panel (lights were out, so may not be spot on with the colours!). There were prints, plates and other bits of ephemera here as well. The service was good and there was just a couple of blokes in. There was no music. The beer; tap stuff, with Banks's MILD and Bitter on electric cask pump - the MILD is excellent from former visits. There used to be three handpulls (on a former visit; Marstons Ashes,Old Empire and Jennings Cocker Hoop) but currently there is only one, perhaps as i believe it is a relief gaffer at the moment after the long-standing previous owner retired. I still stand by my former comment: A great traditional place; with the Vine up the road, you would come to Wednesfield for these two places alone. Class.

I really like this pub. It is a small, traditional type of place, but they have made the most of it and its presented well & a good pint of beer.
