Crown & Cushion, Dartmouth, West Bromwich

A detached 1920/30s pub in mock-Tudor style, with patio area, at the fork of two roads. The lower storey is in brick, while the upper storey is in cream and black beam. There is some nice etched glass. The interior is now one L-shaped room, after the small side room was opened-out. The decor is olive green, mustard and red patterned wallpaper, with a wood floor in the bar and carpet in the side lounge. There is a cream ceiling with some moulding. The seating is the old perimeter seats, leather in the bar and stripey colours in the lounge. There is a small fireplace with a burner. A few pictures of buildings are on the walls, as well as a large mirrir. There is a TV, but this wasn't on and the background music was general and soft. The service was friendly, as were the few locals - the clientele increased as i supped, as it was quiz night. Beer; usual keg stuff with Banks's and M&B MILD. On the handpull there were Rev James, London Pride and a decent Castle Rock Harvest Pale Ale. A nice, pleasant place - a little too modern for me, but tidy and worth a pop in for one, or two!

Roadside pub of road junction, just over the Expressway from the Town Centre. Actually not a bad little place, tidy enough inside with the seating in good condition. Friendly and 3 real ales including a guest (Speckie Hen, Tribute and old Hooky were on during my visit). The beer quality was good. Sort of place that maybe struggling at the moment, but seems some care is going into running this one and the pub appears to be reaping the benefit.
