The Rose & Crown, Walsall

Imposing looking building, as name suggests it once was a mansion, latterly belonged to Portsmouth City Council & now a Harvester pub / restaurant Very large car park. The front entrance is up mansion steps, the rear overlooks Langstone Harbour across to Hayling Island, nice to sit there if tide in & sun's out "Farmhouse" pub not far away, so choice of two pub / food chains if one does not suit

A fantastic Edwardian brick build, with some decorative moulding. Detached corner pub, with a patio at the back. The interior has two major rooms, with a pool area as well. The corridor is worth a mention as its in claret and blue ceramic tile. The bar room is predominantly white and has Sky TV and sometimes music/karaoke, the lounge is in a red and bamboo colour. There are lots of old photos of the area on the walls. Service is fine and there is usually a mixed clientele. Beer; tap stuff, including Banks's MILD (decent) On the handpull there are the Black Country Ales choices of Pig on the Wall MILD (decent) BFG and Fireside, which i have had before when visiting. A couple of guests this week, with Keltek Magic and Banks-Taylor Golden Fox. A nice pub, good choices of beer, always worth a visit

Formerly dying, but refurbished & reopened 3 years ago, it's now thriving and once again the centre of village life. Offers rooms, food and good beer.

Still part of the Black Country Ales Group, this pub has recently come under the stewardship of Doug and Karen who learned their trade at the Vine in Wednesfield, so you know the beer's going to be good. Black Country Ales are available but also Doug is gradually introducing guest real ales and educating the palate of his regulars. A lovely Olde Worlde trad pub which also has party nights/karaoke etc at the weekend, so you get the best of both worlds. Sky sports also available if you are the type who likes to go to the pub to watch England lose, so there's something for everyone. Definitely worth a visit!
