Brewhouse & Kitchen, Sutton Coldfield

Large pub and restaurant on a busy road through Sutton Coldfield. The bar is slightly off to the left as you enter, with the brewing equipment slightly off to the right. Seating areas can be found both sides, but extend a fair way to the left. I had the pick of the lot, as I was the only customer inside. Two others were sat in the outdoor patio area at the front, having just finished a weekday lunch. Apparently there is also a large garden to the rear, which I didn't explore. If there were any further customers out there, they certainly didn't make their way to the bar during my visit. The 4 real ales are all their own. Marksman, The Cup & 004 Oaks are the regulars. A fourth one was called Project Cask Citrus Pale. That was the one I chose, but it didn't really live up to its taste profile. Then again, I've never been a particular fan of Brewhouse & Kitchen beers. Discounts are available for CAMRA members. The 2 bar staff didn't have an awful lot of work to do and a chef appearing from the kitchen also looked bored. With the Wetherspoon's just along the road having the lion's share of the town centre's drinkers and diners, I'm surprised this pub can stay in business. Perhaps it gets busy of an evening?

I remember drinking in here when it was The Cup a few years ago. I have visited a few times and I like this chain. I went for the Marksman and 004 Oaks. Both were excellent. Well worth a visit.
