Vine Inn, Stourbridge

A large pub and eatery, an 18th century coaching inn with extensions, now in a pea-green colour and white. There is a large car-park and grounds over-looking the canal, where there is a beer garden. The interior is a sort of U-shape around a central bar that faces you on entry through the main door at the front and the side door. The bar and the lounge are in red, white and wood panel, with a white ceiling and part wood floor, along with a brick fireplace. The restaurant area is at the back, but I didn’t go in there or eat, so I can’t comment on that. The place was decorated with jugs and other traditional ephemera, along with some old pictures of Kinver. The service was very friendly and the clientele small, but it was a Monday evening. The music was quiet and mixed and the TV wasn’t on. I think there was a dart board, but failed to note it properly. Beer; usual tap stuff, with Enville Ale, Kinver Edge and Kinver Cavegirl on handpull – all three were fine. I have visited before and will do again. This is more than just a solid pub and really handy for the boaters on the canal

Fantastic meal at the vine last night. Tracy took charge 3 months ago and we have now been 3 times since August with excelent service and food on each occasion. ( the beer is not bad either !)

A narrow but incredibly long pub in the centre of the capital of the East Riding, entrance is through an archway at the side. Good range of up to seven decently kept ales usually from smaller breweries, on this occasion Batemans, Everards, Fugglestou and Acorn plus a very wide range of keg beer and cider including Amstel, Heinekin imported, Staropramen and Peroni. Flagstones, beams and panelling from before a recent renovation in the front bar area, along with plenty of comfy seats, a big stove and a small TV. Food is good and reasonably priced, bar and waiting staff were good even under the pressure of a biggish queue. Probably a pub with something for everyone, done very well but not excelling in any one particular area.

The Vine has a new manager. FOOD is awful - cold and poorly timed - my meal arrived 7 minutes before my partners and her vegetables arrived 5 minutes later. CHEF was rude and the manager useless. We left without eating or even paying for the 4 drinks we consumed during our wait!!

Canal side pub, well kept variety of real ales and cracking food. Brilliant!
