The Winning Post, Saltley, Birmingham

I remember this place as 'The Rocket' when i used to pass it a lot back in the 1970/80s - presumably because it replaced a pub knocked down in the re-development of the area in the 60s that was called the Train Tavern. Duddeston and Saltley WERE big railway depots for locomotives, carriages and wagons - anyhow, the pub has gone for good - it is now a mosque.

A friend of mine used to live here. She now lives in Australia - she's better off where she is now. The place once had a railways related name is a prime example of 1960's crap. A 2 roomed pub (bar & lounge) that provides a beverage once called beer. An unremarkable pub, in an unremarkable area providing an unremarkable product to unfriendly people.
