The Albert, Scarborough

Doesn't look much from the outside, on a main road amongst guest houses, but inside does feel like a proper pub, with a nice bar, dartboards, pool table and sundry sports TVs, all dispersed around the several different areas. The alcove with a carvery in is annoying but understandable. The draft ales were sadly restricted to Theakstons Best and Tetley Cask but at least they have taken the trouble to register with Cask Marque.

It was just about to close for a few weeks refurbishment when I dropped in so it may change in detail - beware. It's a biggish room across the front with a mix of bench and tables and chairs, the counter is to the side with four pumps, the delights being Old Speckled Hen, Theakstons Best, Kelham Island Pale Rider and one reversed, the Theakstons was pretty poor but they were selling it off cheap due to the forthcoming closure. Hopefully the black painted walls will go but I suspect the lighting rig, big speakers and screens will stay and may even be enhanced.
