The Prince Blucher, Twickenham

The Prince Blucher is a decent looking pub that is on Twickenham green. Once inside there were a few different rooms and drinking areas i had a drink in the bar at the front of the pub i thought this was a decent and comfortable room to have a drink in,this pub is a Fullers tied house and there were three real ales on the bar i had a drink of Chiswick bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beers were London Pride and Fullers ESB. I thought this was a really nice pub and i would happily come in here again. Pub visited 13/12/2003

This pub is presumably named after the Prussian who just made it to the Battle of Waterloo in the nick of time. I wonder if he had any connection with Twickenham; seems unlikely, but you never know. Anyway, this is a Fuller’s pub, with ESB, London Pride, Discovery and Chiswick on. The Chiswick was good, for well under £3 a pint. There are some attractive hanging baskets outside, giving a spring-like feel. As you enter the pub, the bar area in front of you, and to the right, is varnished bare boarded flooring, but with an attractive large rug. To the left of the bar, and a separate but connected room at the back on the right are carpeted areas with normal tables and chairs. There’s a large TV on the wall in the main bar area, showing the racing when I was in, and in front of the TV on the large rug is a sofa and a couple of other chairs. There are also a couple of high tables and high stools in front of the window. All the usual electrical devices are present – a couple of one-armed bandits; a ciggy machine; a games machine; and a cash machine. There was much St Patrick’s Day decor in evidence here, with the bar staff wearing emerald green T-shirts, and the barmaid also wearing one of those enormous Guinness top hats. Off to the right of the pub is an unexpectedly large beer garden. This is a decent enough pub. It was clean and comfortable and it does some pretty good Fuller’s ales. Certainly good enough to drop in for a pint if you’re in the area, but not sufficiently different to warrant making a special journey to visit.
