Town Wharf, Isleworth

A bit of a celebration pub as its turned-out to be the final one that needed to be bagged in order for me and my pal to fully complete the entire London-based set of Samual Smiths outlets, having been foiled a couple of years earlier by it being closed in one of its periods of rudderlessness. And lucky we were, as the latest tenant had scarpered a few days previously and the place was being kept open by the barman on the fly. Stock was diminished with only two keg (no cask) and much of the place was in darkness, with only the ground floor being open. Inevitably there were only seven other customers so how long this one keeps going is anyone’s guess. The building itself is a weird maverick, I presumed converted from an old riverside warehouse of some kind and it has taken on the external look of a cross between a Swiss chalet and a Wild West saloon – but the reviewer below says it was purpose-built so I will bow to their knowledge. The interior is predictably Sams though with dark varnished wood, leather bench seating and sodium lighting. To the rear is a pool room. All quite bizarre, so a fitting way to conclude the challenge I suppose.

2 floor Sam Smiths pub with a riverside location (riverside terrace). Obviously no surprises beer wise but the the pub is worth visiting. Located just down from The Swan Inn.
