Kings Head, Enfield

The Kings head is an icon market square pub which has been sorely missed by local Enfield residents since its demise almost three years ago. Never the smartest pub, but always a place with atmosphere and characters and along with the also defunct Enfield Arms were the places to drink in Enfield Town centre. But after several false dawns it is now reopen again and been thoroughly done up inside and all in all the new owners have done a decent job. The old carpets have been replaced with bare wood floors and the furniture is plain wood but generally comfortable. The walls are painted in muted colours and the odd uplights here and there give the place a bit of light and atmosphere. Still a front bar with a second room at the back. The old upstairs games room has gone though, as the upstairs area is being turned into guest rooms The place has a lighter and more airy feel that previously, and some of the featured from the Old Kings Head, such as the large former mirror in the back room have gone. Seems to be a larger array of Lager taps on the bar and there is still three handpumps, but only two were going on my first visit and these were Green King IPA and Theakston's XB. So not a stunning range of ales, but I’ll forgive the old girl that , as its great to have the Kings Head back and functioning in the market place and hopefully as it wears in, it will become the Enfield institution it once was.
