The Salutation Inn, Manchester

This is a handsome traditional pub surrounded by modern buildings. It is owned by Bollington Brewery and five of their beers were on hand pumps at the time of my visit, plus a cider. My half of Bollington Best was in good condition, which is more than I can say for the gents' toilets which were rank, and unrelieved by any fresh air blowing through the remorselessly closed window. This is not one to return to in a hurry. Date of visit: 24th September 2022

Six hand pulls with three on, on a recent Saturday night visit. Cask beers are now exclusively from Bollington Brewing Co. There seemed to be some crafty keg stuff available too, with a chalk board behind the bar listing what was available. Really rather quiet at the time of my visit, which is a bit of a shame, though it meant for fast efficient service.

Nice traditional feeling pub, not particularly busy on my Saturday night visit back in the middle of December. I seem to recall there were 5 or 6 hand pulls for cask ale but a few were off meaning the choice was narrowed down to just 2 or 3. I had the Manchester Skyline by Brightside which was a decent drop, as was my drinking partner's Iceberg by Titanic. Very reasonably priced but I guess they are catering for the student market in this location, so that is perhaps to be expected. I'd be happy to return and try it again another time.
