The Leconfield , Newington Green, N16

This is a sparsely furnished pub with a stage at the rear so I imagine that it is more of a music venue. In fact I did spot an advertisement for ‘Rock the Lesbah’ which happens between 20:00 and 1am every Thursday night, but I have no idea what this actually is as there was no explanation. I didn’t spot any advertisements for Sky Sports, but there is a projector on the wall behind the stage and two plasma screens were showing music videos on MTV. There is a pool table that was being played by two old boys that were the only other people in the pub when I visited last Wednesday evening and there is also table football and some board games can be borrowed from the bar. The bar isn’t very well stocked with only three standard and three premium draught products, but the Guinness was perfectly acceptable. There is a happy hour (or three) every day from 17:00 until 20:00 where two for one cocktails can be purchased. The service was friendly and although it was quiet during my visit I did get a gay pub vibe and the Lesbah night probably confirms this. Anyway, whether this is a gay pub or not, I cannot envisage a return visit as I thought it was a little grim and my dancing days are long gone.
