Coach & Horses, Stoke Newington, N16

This is a very pleasant little pub on Stoke Newington High Street that has three hand pumps that were drawing Tribute, Black Sheep and Greene King IPA on my Saturday afternoon visit. There are also standard and premium draught products available and I received a very good pint of Guinness from the affable barmaid. The pub décor is busy with coloured glass vases in the windows and pictures up on the walls, but it is done well. The projector screen was rolled up, but there is a plasma screen that was showing the Ryder Cup on Sky Sports, but this was muted and some inoffensive background music was being played. It was very quiet so I found a table easily, but my only complaint would be that the seating in the centre of the pub is very close together so I’d imagine it is a bit of a squeeze at busier times. There are some picnic tables under an awning out the front, but these seemed to be more for the smokers. Live music is advertised for every Thursday night from 21:00 until late and Thai food is served. For a Saturday afternoon beer this place ticks all the boxes and I would return.
