The Globe, E9

The Globe is situated in the middle of Hackney. The pub looks quite nice from the outside and was probably built to serve the estate which is behind it. Once inside there is a single oblong shaped room with the bar on the right side,the room is carpeted and had comfy bench seating and normal tables and chairs,there is also a raised area to the rear which had normal tables and chairs,there is also a pool table in the room. There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Youngs Bitter which was a decent enough drink,the other beer was Wadworth 6X. I thought this was a comfortable and pleasant pub to have a drink in. Pub visited 4/10/2014

Traditional,what I would call an old style pub.Loads of stuff on the walls inc some nice boxing pictures.Two cask beers on.The rarely seen Wadsworth -6x and Wadsworth -Ipenema a lovely beer.Its keg heaven if you want a lager.Fosters-Bud-Heineken-Stella -Kronenbourg-Carling all on tap.Nice little pub.

This single-room pub looks a bit like a shop conversion. In the front of the room as you enter is a pool table, plus some standard seating and a couple of tall tables and tall stools. The bar counter stretches down the right hand wall, and at the back there’s a raised area looking out onto a vista comprising a small car park and garages, and with all tables laid for diners. By laid, I mean that there were table mats and a knife and fork wrapped in a paper knapkin. Anyway, as I was going for the economy lunch of fish and chips for a fiver, this is where I sat. As well as the fish and chips, I spotted a tray on the bar counter which earlier in the day might have been piled high with clingfilm covered rolls, but which by the time I arrived had only a single, forlorn-looking, roast beef roll on it. I hope that someone took a fancy to it later in the day. But onto the important stuff. They had a couple of Sharp’s ales on – Doom Bar (of course) and Cornish Coaster - the latter being in decent nick. There was a fair bit of bric-a-brac decor around the place, consisting of stoneware jugs and bottles, globes, sewing machines, a mounted stag’s head, and even a dispay of fans in a glass case. The pub isn’t anything very special, but they have made an effort to give it a bit of character and it does do a couple of ales. It’s not a bad place to stop off for a swift one.
