Tower Tavern, Fitzrovia, W1

Classic post-war pub with an angled, utilitarian look both outside and in. Leased by Greene King from the nearby University of Westminster and indeed it’s a hangout for a fair few staff in the evening. The exterior walls are covered in pale tiling. Inside it’s a split-level and pretty spartan affair although a bit of character has been put in with the addition of a lot of black and white photos (looked like musicians but it was hard to tell in the Friday evening scrum) and the place seemed pretty tidy. Worth noting that the windows concertina so is maybe a decent bet in the summer months as there’s also some outside seating. Three ales on; GK IPA, Brains SA (fair) and Longman APA (decent). Fair enough, overall – I expected much worse.
