The Hundred of Ashendon, Aylesbury

Village pub that is now far more food-focused than wet led. The pub enjoys a pretty location and does not fit the archetypal gastropub description. Indeed, it is listed in the latest Good Beer Guide and has a couple of local real ales. On my visit, these were Chiltern Kop Hill Ale & Tring Side Pocket For A Toad. All tables in the pub's two rooms were made out for diners. So, we chose to sit outside, as it was a sunny Sunday lunchtime when we arrived at opening time. Table service is still in operation here and we soon got a reminder of how frustrating it can be sat waiting (and waiting) for drinks to arrive, when it is so much quicker to get them from the bar. We didn't eat in here. So, I can't comment on the food. However, my Chiltern beer was (eventually) enjoyed in the sunshine.
