The Shoulder Of Mutton (JD Wetherspoon), Ashby-De-La-Zouch

Decent enough Spoon's well described below We only called in for breakfast but I did notice a couple of guests alongside the usual suspects - 1 from the Purple moose brewery and another called Wimbledon but I didn't see who it was by! The breakfast was good and I would happily call again.

The Shoulder Of Mutton is a conversion of an original pub but internally other than some exposed wooden beams you would never know it. There are a couple of side areas for eating as you enter and then there's a typical large room with the bar on the right and a decent sized patio to the rear. The toilets are at the top of a hopelessly narrow staircase and the gents at least seemed wholly inadequate for a place this size. The bar has two sets of five hand pumps but the choice of ales wasn't great as one was unused, the IPA version of the JDW Trio Of Doom and Pedigree were doubled up leaving just three options. These were the JDW International Adnam's Belgian Blonde & Everard's Red plus Backyard Blonde. I went for the Everard's Red (£2.45) which was in very good nick. It's not a bad place but let down by the beer choice. If JDW pubs in the Burton area must have Pedigree doubled up the least they could do is ditch the hated Doom Bore.
