The Guildhall, Folkestone

The Guildhall is an L shaped pub found within the winding backstreets of Folkestone. My visit was on a recent Monday afternoon when there were a handful of locals sitting at the bar chatting to the friendly governor. Standard draught is available and one of the hand pumps was unused leaving Greene King IPA, Harvey’s Best and Butcombe’s Mendip Spring as the ale options. Around to the left of the bar is a step down to a pool table and dartboard. There was some background music playing which I found very depressing. Out the back is a small enclosed patio area, but there is more seating outside the front of the pub. I thought that this pub was very welcoming and comfortable. Some more upbeat music would have been better or maybe just turn it off as the conversation around the bar was sufficient enough for a bit of atmosphere.
