The Southsea Village, Southsea

What looks like a proper pub with seats, piles of fag ends and drinking bowls outside turns out to be just another Southsea dive bar despite (or because of?) being owned by Greene King. On entering the single room bar, with its tired decor and slightly hostile atmosphere, we walked to the three handpumps on the bar only to find that two were inactive and the third had a GK IPA clip on it. As we stood waiting a movement on the periphery suggested the presence of an elderly giant vampire bat, but on second glance this turned out to be a middle-aged Eastern European barmaid wearing a weird leather dress that looked like one of Anne Summers's early failed experiments. The IPA pump turned out to be dry, as did the atmosphere and Ms Pteropine's well of hospitality, so I don't think I'll be rushing back.
