The Mousetrap Inn, Cheltenham

The Mousetrap Inn has a square open plan bar area that is split up by a couple of supporting pillars. There is also a strip of seating to the right of the pub that was set for dining. Seating is found throughout and there is a small bar in the right rear corner where a limited draught selection is available. There are also three hand pumps that were drawing Hook Norton Brewery’s Old Hooky, Butcombe’s rare Breed and Wye Valley’s HPA during my visit on Saturday night. Lunch is available from midday until 14:00 Tuesday to Sunday when main dishes are available for around £10. Dinner is served from 18:30 until 21:00 Tuesday until Saturday with main meals starting at £12. There were a handful of other customers who knew the landlord so I took them to be locals rather than tourists who had flocked to this area earlier in the day. I didn’t spot any televisions, but there was some low background music playing. Outside the front of the pub are a few picnic tables that face the adjacent road. All of the pubs in this area are geared towards the tourist trade and they would be stupid not to, but this one had slightly more of a proper pub feel than the others. The only real gripe I have is that the welcome I received wasn’t the friendliest.
