The Prince of Wales is a small single room Shepherd Neame pub that is handily placed for a sneaky pint whilst the misses does the shopping. The bar is on the back wall and the usual SN draught of Oranjeboom etc are all available alongside three hand pumps that were drawing Bishop’s Finger, Master Brew and Spitfire during my visit late on Tuesday evening last week. There is a plasma screen that was showing a football match courtesy of Nova Sports and a monitor behind the bar was displaying live bus departure times from Churchill Square. There was some decent background music playing at a sensible volume and there are regular music events throughout the week. These includes open mic on Wednesdays, live music on Thursdays, Karaoke on Fridays and a DJ on Saturdays. The toilets are located downstairs next to the advertised games room which is in fact a dartboard with minimal seating. The governor was a very friendly chap and I’d have no problem returning for another beer.
