Martha Gunn, Roundhill, Brighton

To Gain entry to the Martha Gunn on Tuesday evening I had to squeeze past six smokers who were puffing away in and around the entrance. I could understand the close proximity to the door if it was raining, but it was actually very dry and warm for December. Once inside I was served a pint of lager from the standard draught selection by the friendly woman on duty. There is a hand pump on the bar, but it looks like it hasn’t been used for some time. The plasma screen in the bar area was showing muted Premiership football and for some reason there were love songs playing in the background. To the right of the bar there is an area with a pool table and a projector screen that was turned off. Behind the bar there is another room with more seating, a dartboard and a pinball machine. After the first bad impression of this pub I quite warmed to it and if I lived locally I would use this pub. Maybe the smokers should be encouraged to use the paved seating area at the rear of the pub.
